Reasons we love Campbell Jean
Campbell has a strange little cold that has kind of come and gone throughout the day over the past week. As with all things Campbell- when she doesn't feel good, she doesn't.feel.good. With all of the rough moments of the last week I thought I'd take a few minutes to jot down a few of our favorite things about her as of late.
... she is such a good little momma. She loves on babies and puppies all day long. She feeds them, diapers them, puts them to bed fifty times a day, presents them to us like we've never seen such a magical thing before and allows us to hold or sit by them, and the list goes on. It's kind of embarassing to admit but as we snuggle before bed she asks to see babies and puppies on my phone... translation she wants me to scroll through Facebook and find her pictures of babies or dogs to study and talk about!!!! Thankfully several of our friends have tiny babes for her to love on from afar. It took her all of three seconds to get her baby buckled in this carseat we came across at Target and she marched around browsing at the other toys carrying her purse and baby like nobody's business! She's a funny girl.
... she loves to brush her teeth. Each time we walk into the bathroom she's up on her stool announcing we should 'brush! our! teeth!!' The way she says it is pretty adorable. It makes me smile that she thinks it's so awesome and includes me and thinks I would also like to brush my teeth 14 times a day.
... she loves her dad and brother. Any mode of transportation other than a regular old car reminds her of her brother. After naming and describing the bus, big truck, train, airplane, etc she adds how much 'Sammy' loves them. She continues to show him things like her outfit or toy or newly filled sippy cup just yearning for him to acknowledge her and shout his approval. It's pretty sweet. The hugs for her dad just seem to get sweeter each day. She has so long been a momma's girl it warms my heart to see her really realizing how wonderful her dad is. That father/daughter relationship is so special to me that I love to see their's deepen.
... she saves me a seat. Loudly. The whole time I'm in the kitchen getting her breakfast (so 2-5 minutes) she is repeating over and over mom sit, mom sit, mom, mom, mom sit as she pats the seat next to her on the couch. Same thing at night when we all crawl into Sam's bed to pray. She hops in first and pounds the pillow next to her repeatedly informing me and the world that this is my spot and I'm supposed to lay down by her! : )
... she has a great memory. She discovered Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go this week--- you know the Goldbug book. : ) It took her two pages to figure out we could find him hidden on every page and she's great at seeking him out! And she rememberes where he is on many of the pages! She has mastered matching and puzzles and songs and funny little dances. She surprised me other other day by saying bless you to me unprompted when I sneezed. The list of random things she remembers and associates with certain colors or words or toys is fun. She remembers.
I'm so thankful for the one-on-one time I've had with her this fall. She's such a special girl. A little complicated/drama-filled/stereotypically girly but she's great. I'm thankful every day God chose us to raise her.
